Sako Enters the AR-15 Market With the Arctic Rifle Generation

Finnish manufacturer Sako has entered the AR-15 market with its Arctic Rifle Generation (ARG) lineup, showcased at EnforceTac 2026. The series includes the 5.56x45mm NATO ARG 40 GP (gas piston) and ARG 40 DI (direct impingement), and the 7.62x51mm NATO ARG 50 GP (piston designated marksman rifle with a 16-inch barrel), all featuring cold-hammer forged, hard-chrome lined barrels and ambidextrous controls. While primarily aimed at military and law enforcement contracts, with Finland adopting the 7.62mm variant as the M23, a limited civilian ARG S 40 Reservist model was sold in Finland for about $3,250.
