The Matador Mat-9 is a 9mm pistol caliber carbine (PCC) offering versatility for home defense or as a truck gun. It features billet machined aluminum construction, ambidextrous controls (except for the bolt lock), and compatibility with various AR-9 lowers, including Glock, CZ Evo, and Colt magazines. While generally reliable, some early units experienced issues with the bolt release screw backing out and inconsistent last-round bolt hold open, which Matador Defense reportedly has a fix for.

The Mat9 upper features a monolithic, bufferless design with a reversible, non-reciprocating charging handle, compatible with various AR-9 lowers. The full lower offers an ambidextrous setup with a 1913 rail and Glock magazine compatibility.
