The upcoming Morphy Auction on May 28/29 features a significant collection of NFA items and rare machine guns, including a transferable Austen Mk II, Marlin 1917, and various BAR versions like the Swedish 6.5mm variant. Other highlights include a Johnson Light Machine Gun, Yugo M56, and Yugo M92. The auction also extends to antique revolvers, early semi-autos, C&R rifles, and even a British Abbot Self-Propelled Gun.
The Austen Mk II SMG, an extremely rare Australian submachine gun, heavily utilized die-casting for its construction, particularly in the front grip and rear housing. It featured an improved two-position aperture sight and an integral firing pin for greater reliability. Despite these upgrades, only 200 were produced before being declared obsolete shortly after its 1946 introduction.
