The AK12, developed for the Russian Ratnik program, aims to improve upon the AK74M with enhanced ergonomics and modern optics mounting while retaining AK durability. It features a proprietary muzzle brake, a welded gas tube, and a reinforced dust cover for optics. While recoil is comparable to the AK74, accuracy is similar, effective out to 500-600 yards.
