As of August 1st, 2022, Los Angeles County has decentralized its Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) issuing authority to individual municipalities. Applicants living within an incorporated city are now encouraged to apply with their local police department first, rather than directly with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD). For unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, applications will continue to be processed by the LASD. While the core application remains the same, there may be nuances in fees and payment recipients between local PDs and the LASD.
