Using a sophisticated recoil rig, they tested Hawkins Precision Tank ST (straight ports) and Backdraft (angled ports) brakes on 6.5 Creedmoor and 300 Win Mag rifles. The results indicate that for magnum cartridges, larger diameter brakes offer a more significant recoil reduction, with angled ports providing a slight additional benefit.
