The 7.92x41mm CETME cartridge, developed in the early 1950s, was an innovative Spanish attempt to meet ambitious military requirements for a lightweight, 1000m effective range, full-auto rifle. Dr. Gunther Voss's unique bullet design, featuring a long aluminum core and a stabilizing copper band, achieved high ballistic coefficient and rotational inertia while minimizing recoil. This cartridge was integral to the CETME Modelo 2 rifle, a precursor to the Heckler & Koch G3, but was eventually superseded by the 7.62 NATO standard.
