This entry details the rare 9x19mm Parabellum prototype of the Czech vz.38 pistol, nicknamed the 'Nutcracker' for its unique front-hinging disassembly. Unlike the standard blowback vz.38 chambered in .380 ACP, this experimental model features a locked rotating barrel system to handle the higher pressures of the 9x19mm round. It also incorporates a DA/SA trigger and a manual safety, features not present on the original military version. Only two prototypes were ever produced.
The Samostril Netsch was a bizarre early 1920s Czech prototype automatic rifle designed by Jozef Netsch. It featured a unique gas trap system where a forward-moving barrel shroud cycled the action. Intended as a rifle-machine gun intermediate, it competed in 1923 military trials but failed after limited firing. Despite its failure, 25 were contracted, with many surviving in the VHU Prague collection.
