The Mauser Selbstlader M1916 infantry rifle is a rare, recoil-operated semi-automatic firearm from WWI, featuring a unique flapper-locked system with a fixed barrel. Despite its advanced design for the era, it suffered from poor reliability in trench conditions due to tight tolerances and sensitivity to dirt. It utilized a 25-round detachable magazine and was chambered in 8x57mm Mauser.
