Canadian Modular Assault Rifle - Canada Selects New Rifle

Summary

The Canadian Armed Forces is adopting variants of Colt Canada's MRR as the Canadian Modular Assault Rifle (CMAR), procuring over 65,000 rifles in 5.56x45mm over the next five years. The CMAR will replace existing C7 and C8 platforms, with initial deliveries expected in 2027. The project includes Full Spectrum (FS) and General Service (GS) variants and a Phase 1 contract valued at approximately CA$307 million for 30,000 GS rifles.
