The German Bundeswehr is fielding its new standard assault rifle, the G95KA1, a short-barreled Heckler & Koch HK416A8 variant chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, replacing the G36. Panzergrenadiere of Panzerbrigade 12 are training with the G95KA1 at Exercise Reliable Lion at Grafenwöhr, with initial deliveries starting in December 2025 as part of a contract for up to 118,718 rifles.
