The Colt All-American 2000, a polymer-framed pistol designed by Eugene Stoner and Reed Knight, was Colt's unsuccessful attempt to compete in the 1990s 'Wonder Nine' market. Despite its innovative rotating barrel locking system and polymer construction, it suffered from significant accuracy and reliability issues, largely attributed to a heavy 12-pound trigger pull (increased for liability) and a front sight mounted on a wear-prone barrel bushing. These flaws, combined with manufacturing problems, led to its market failure and a safety recall.
