The CMMG Mk47 Mutant underwent a rigorous 'meltdown' test, firing 1,255 rounds of 7.62x39mm before its gas tube failed. This direct impingement rifle outperformed other DI rifles and even a Vepr AK-47 in sustained fire endurance. Magazine feed lips also failed under extreme heat, but the rifle itself remained functional until the gas tube gave out.
