This video tests the effectiveness of signal flares against night vision and thermal optics. Flares are shown to completely blind night vision goggles, rendering them useless. However, thermal optics are largely unaffected, with a person remaining visible even when a flare is present. The findings suggest flares are effective against NVGs but not thermal imaging.
