US M1915 Bolo Bayonet - Dual Purpose Gear That Worked!
The US M1915 Bolo Bayonet was a specialized tool developed for jungle warfare in the Philippines, addressing the inadequacy of standard bayonets for clearing vegetation. Proposed by Captain Hugh Wise in 1902 and officially adopted in 1915, it featured a wider, heavier front for chopping. Approximately 6,002 units were produced by Springfield Armory, seeing their last combat use with the 26th Cavalry in 1936.
