Bren 805: A Rifle for the Post-Communist Czech Army
The CZ 805 Bren was developed to replace the VZ 58, aiming for NATO interoperability with its 5.56x45mm NATO chambering and AR-18 style mechanics. Early Gen 1 models featured proprietary magazines and an AK-style paddle release, while Gen 2 transitioned to STANAG compatibility and ergonomic improvements. Despite its adoption, soldier complaints regarding weight and handling led to the development of the Bren 2.
