Story of the Alar: A Simple Student-Made SMG
The Alar SMG was an emergency submachine gun produced by students in Sisak, Croatia, during the early Croatian Homeland War. Early prototypes featured simple mechanics inspired by the PPSh-41, while later production versions incorporated side-folding or under-folding stocks and rifled barrels smuggled from Austria. Approximately 80 units were made before production ceased as more standard arms became available.
