The expert instructor, Matt Carriker, demonstrates that common pistol calibers like .22 LR and 9mm, as well as a 12 Gauge slug, are ineffective at breaking even small chains. High-powered rifle rounds like the .308 begin to show effectiveness, eventually breaking a medium chain with multiple shots. A .50 BMG round, however, easily severs a heavy industrial chain in a single shot, with APIT rounds proving similarly effective against an even larger chain.
