It aims to provide enhanced ballistic performance out to and beyond 1,000 yards, leveraging Hornady's Doppler radar systems for precise bullet tuning. The cartridge and rifle chamber were developed together for consistent performance and improved velocity, expanding the AR-15's capabilities. The 22 ARC offers similar performance to the .22-250 Remington while remaining compatible with AR-15 lower receivers. Hornady currently offers three loads: 62-grain ELD-VT V-Match, 88-grain ELD Match, and 75-grain ELD Match Black.
