How Much STRONGER is Carbon Fiber Filament? And is it better?
Carbon Fiber (CF) PETG is about 25% stronger horizontally than plain PETG but significantly more brittle, snapping like PLA. Layer adhesion sees only a 10% increase. While CF PETG offers better aesthetics and reduced curling, its brittleness makes it unsuitable for high-impact applications like 3D printed lower receivers. For such parts, materials like PLA+ or 3D870 PLA are recommended for their balance of strength, heat resistance, and durability.
