The UMP-45: Does It Kinda Suck?
The H&K UMP-45 is reviewed as a more affordable, polymer-based successor to the MP5, chambered in .45 ACP. While it offers modern features like a last-round bolt hold-open and ambidextrous controls, its direct blowback operation results in a 'jumpier' recoil compared to the MP5's roller-delayed system. Despite its historical significance and 'cool factor,' the UMP-45 is deemed less ideal for home defense than a suppressed MP5.
