School Takes Over Hotels For Gun Free Zone
The University of Louisiana Lafayette attempted to create gun-free zones by labeling a museum and hotels as student housing, leveraging Louisiana's 1,000 ft safe school zone law. Gun Owners of America (GOA) intervened, leading to the removal of 'safe school zone' signs. The university then replaced them with 'weapons-free facility' signs, arguing they could only restrict firearms within facilities they controlled, not the surrounding areas.
