Beretta Responds to M9A3 Disapproval by U.S. Army
Beretta developed the M9A3 as an Engineering Change Proposal to enhance the M9 pistol for the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun System program. Despite meeting 84-86% of MHS requirements, the Army disapproved it due to 'too many changes.' Beretta highlights the M9A3's cost-effectiveness and performance improvements, drawing parallels to the M9A1's adoption by the Marines. Due to civilian demand, the M9A3 was released commercially.
