This video tests the bullet resistance of a real elevator cable against various calibers, from 9mm to .50 BMG. Smaller calibers like 9mm and .45 ACP are completely ineffective, only embedding themselves in the cable strands. Even powerful rounds like .45-70 and .300 Win Mag cause minimal damage. Only .50 BMG, particularly AP rounds, shows significant penetration, eventually cutting strands but not immediately severing the cable.
