Alert: California "Semi-Auto" Ban Can Now Take Effect Per CA DOJ
California's SB452, enacted in 2023, is set to effectively ban the sale of new semi-automatic handguns in the state starting January 1, 2028. This is due to new microstamping requirements, which the California Department of Justice has deemed technologically viable. The law mandates that all semi-automatic handguns sold by licensed dealers must be "Micro Stamp enabled," a technology not currently widespread or available in the industry, thus impacting the existing firearm roster.
