ATF Introducing eForm 4 w/ Electronic Fingerprints in December 2021
Forgotten Weapons host Ian McCollum, an expert in firearms history and regulation, details the ATF's introduction of the eForm 4 with electronic fingerprints, launching in December 2021. This digital system aims to significantly reduce the lengthy processing times associated with NFA item transfers, which traditionally take 7-9 months or longer due to manual submission of fingerprint cards and photographs. The new eForm 4 allows for electronic submission of the form, digital fingerprints via EFT files, and photographs, with the ATF targeting transfer times of 90 days by the end of 2022 and 30 days by the end of 2023.
