Was the Marine Sniper shot through a scope real?
This video meticulously recreates and tests the feasibility of the legendary 'shot through the scope' attributed to Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock. By firing a .30-06 round through a vintage Mosin Nagant scope and into a ballistic head, the experiment confirms the historical possibility due to the scope's design. A subsequent test with a modern LPVO demonstrates how contemporary optics, with thicker glass and different construction, would likely deflect such a projectile.
