MUD: AKM vs AR15
This video features Karl Kasarda from InRangeTV conducting a direct head-to-head comparison of an AKM and an AR-15 (M4 variant) in a mud test. The AKM, chambered in 7.62x39mm, experienced immediate malfunctions including failures to extract and feed. In contrast, a budget-built AR-15 chambered in 5.56x45mm, despite being covered in the same mud, successfully fired multiple rounds. Kasarda attributes the AR-15's superior performance in these adverse conditions to its more sealed action, which better prevents debris ingress compared to the AKM's design.
