Second Amendment Preservation Act Is Back!!!
The Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) in Missouri is back, aiming to prevent state and local authorities from enforcing federal gun laws exceeding state regulations. Originally passed in 2021 and struck down by the 8th Circuit, the revised bill focuses on state/local enforcement and removes explicit federal agency references. Supporters argue it protects against federal overreach, while opponents cite potential hindrances to crime fighting. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has appealed the previous ruling to the US Supreme Court.
