The Supreme Court's decision in favor of the New York Rifle and Pistol Club has compelled several states to revise their concealed carry permit application processes. Specifically, the requirement for applicants to justify their "need" for a permit has been deemed unconstitutional and removed by states like New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Hawaii. While this represents a significant compliance step, the long-term effectiveness in preventing permit denials for other reasons remains to be seen, with California reportedly resisting the changes.
